A Greater Resolve in 2008

Grateful for 2007 & Greater Resolve in 2008

Prayer Surge Now (PSN) was launched in May 2007 when military and political situation in Iraq seemed beyond hope. As you recall, in unison the insurgency and al Qaeda were terrorizing the innocent and the international coalition was about to be driven out. Together, Iran and Syria were gaining greater influence and stronghold in Iraq. Many in the media and the majority of our politicians were claiming defeat for America and the newly formed government of Iraq.

Along with hundreds for other intercessory ministries all across the globe, PSN and coalition of intercessors began to contend for heaven on earth in Iraq and beyond. Together as ONE, we began to apply 1 Chronicles 7:14, 1 Timothy 2:1-8 & Psalm 33:12-22 and witnessed God's merciful and powerful response. Let us pause and thank God for His Mighty Arm of Salvation among the nations!

This year has been the launching pad of what the LORD has poised to do for centuries in the ancient Bible Lands. As we continue With Christ in the School of Prayer in 2008, we will witness the move of God's Spirit like in the days of Moses, David, Paul, Luther, Wesley, Lincoln and Howells. He longs to fulfill the His promise in Isaiah 19:23-25 and bring the Muslims and the Jews under the Lordship of His Son. We, as American intercessors, will play a key role in touching the Father's Heart in ushering the Greatest Revival in both the Middle East and North America.

"Rejoice always,
PRAY WITHOUT CEASING,
in everything give thanks;
for this is the

WILL OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS
for you."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

"We Have a Choice: Humility or Humiliation"

We Have a Choice: Humility or Humiliation is the most critical message for the American Church. Would you consider including this devotional booklet by James Robison as a part of your New Year reading? Please E-mail us at prayersurgenow@gmail.com and ask for your PDF version.

With Christ in the School of Prayer by Andrew Murray for the month of January. This classic book contains 31 Teaching of Jesus on prayer for ALL Christians. Andrew Murray witnessed revivals as a result of applying the instructions of the Greatest Intercessor.

The Book that Transforms Nations, a new book written by Loren Cunningham. As the founder and leader of the world's largest missionary agency, Youth With A Mission , the author has traveled to every nation on earth and witnessed the transforming power of the Bible in nation after nation. As the American Church returns to the roots of prayer & submission to God's Word, we will live in intimate friendship with God and witness the Greatest Awakening during our own lifetime!

Pakistan in Crisis & Christmas in Baghdad

Prayer Alert!!!
Pakistan in Volatile State after Benazir Bhutto's Assassination
Aimee Herd : Dec 27, 2007 : Sadaqat Jan and Zarar Khan – AP, CBN News
http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/294388.aspx

"The death of the charismatic 54-year-old former prime minister threw the campaign for the Jan. 8 parliamentary elections into chaos and created fears of mass protests and violence across the nuclear-armed nation, an important U.S. ally in the war on terrorism." –AP (Rawalpindi, Pakistan)

As Thursday was just beginning in the Western part of the world—in Rawalpindi, an afternoon rally by former Pakistani Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto, was tragically cut short as Bhutto was shot and killed, getting into her car. Known as the first female leader of a Muslim nation in modern history, Bhutto was assassinated just moments before a suicide bomber then blew himself up, killing at least 20 more people. The distressing incident triggered a state of "Red Alert" throughout Pakistan, and will not only affect the country's upcoming elections, but could also rock surrounding nations, as well as impacting the American presidential campaigns and the War on Terror. An article by the Associated Press stated: "The death of the charismatic 54-year-old former prime minister threw the campaign for the Jan. 8 parliamentary elections into chaos and created fears of mass protests and violence across the nuclear-armed nation, an important U.S. ally in the war on terrorism."

Praise Report!!!
Baghdad Churches Were Overflowing at Christmas
Teresa Neumann, Dec 27, 2007 : Staff - CBS/AP
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/12/25/iraq/main3645524.shtml

"We didn't celebrate like this in the past two years as we were holding limited celebrations for relatives in an atmosphere filled with fear. Now we feel better as we see all these security forces in the streets to protect us." (Iraq)

The AP reports that thousands of Iraqi Christians crowded into Baghdad churches on Tuesday to celebrate Christmas. "The number of attacks in Iraq, in general, has fallen dramatically in the past few months—the U.S. military says by 60 percent since June—and the country's small Christian community took advantage of the lower violence to turn out in numbers unthinkable a year ago," the report noted.

William Jalal, was quoted as saying this Christmas was clearly different. "We didn't celebrate like this in the past two years as we were holding limited celebrations for relatives in an atmosphere filled with fear. Now we feel better as we see all these security forces in the streets to protect us." At one Chaldean Catholic church, Sunni and Shiite Muslim clerics attended the service, reportedly in a sign of unity.

"May Iraq be safe every year, and may our Christian brothers be safe every year," said Shiite cleric Hadi al-Jazail. "We came to celebrate with them and to reassure them. This national gathering is beautiful against the sectarian fighting, and God willing from this lesson we'll all pray for peace."

Christmas Message from President Bush

President George W. Bush
December 22, 2007

"At this time of year, we acknowledge that love and sacrifice can transform our world. The miracle of Christmas reminds us that God's grace is revealed in the humblest places. Two thousand years ago, the fullness of that grace was found in a tiny manger, and the life born that day changed our world forever. As Christmas approaches, Laura and I extend to all Americans our best wishes, and we hope every family is brought closer together during this season of reflection and rejoicing."

Above is a portion last Saturday's White House Weekly Radio Address. Please take a few minutes and read and/or listen to the entire message as President Bush uses the occasion of Christmas to remind Americans the sacrifice made by our "Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guard men and women who will be spending this holiday far away from their homes and loved ones" and their families.

3. Aftermath 12/9: The Spirit of God in Colorado

Micah 5:2-5

May the Father’s revelation of His Son in the Book of Micah give us much joy as we remember the birth of Jesus as well as give us great hope in His Mighty Return!

"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for Me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor gives birth and the rest of His brothers return to join the Israelites. He will stand and shepherd His flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD His God. And they will live securely, for then His greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And He will be their peace."

FOCUS ON IRAQ

In this issue:
1. Focus on the Family Radio This Week
2. Saturday Joint Prayer Meeting Across America

Focus on the Family Radio This Week

Experts on post-traumatic stress in our military and the spread of global Islamic jihad were among the guests on this week’s Focus on the Family with Dr. James Dobson. Please consider listening to the members of our military and Chuck Colson on these highly critical issues.

The following programs are available for listening, purchase and free download (www.family.org):

11/5 & 11/6: Standing Strong in a Dark World (Parts 1 & 2)

Author Chuck Colson describes how Christians can have a greater influence on the culture as we apply Romans 12:21“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

Part 1: Chuck Colson says when the church historically fulfilled its mission, the culture inevitably changed. So, what should Christians do today if they want to transform society? Colson, the founder of Prison Fellowship Ministries, describes why Christians should follow the example of 19th century abolitionist William Wilberforce. Look for next week’s DVD release of “Amazing Grace”, the major motion picture about how God use Wilberforce to end the British slave trade.

Part 2: "How can we stop the spread of a destructive worldview that advocates jihad ["holy war"] with the West and death for non-adherents?" The answer, says Colson, lies in Christianity, which provides the best answers to the four questions that define worldview: Where do we come from? Why is there suffering? Is there a solution to the suffering? And, what's my purpose in life?

11/7, 11/8 & 11/3: Post-Traumatic Stress in the Military

A panel describes how post-traumatic stress in the military affects families and how Christians can help support those who are suffering from post-traumatic stress. As our brave soldiers fight for freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan, they face the sobering knowledge that, any moment, they could be wounded or killed. They routinely witness bombings, bloodshed and the senseless killing of innocent civilians, including women and children. The emotional and psychological stress of combat can be far worse and last much longer than physical wounds. Soldiers attempting to readjust to civilian life often face a condition known as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Learn more about PTSD and how military families can find hope and healing. It's an important broadcast for adult listeners. "[PTSD] is a normal reaction to abnormal stress. When you go through gut-wrenching things that man should never see, it is understandable that the body reacts." - Major General Robert Dees

The distinguished panel members include:
Major General (Retired) Robert Dees is the Executive Director of Military Ministry for Campus Crusade for Christ International;
Dr. Loree Sutton is a psychiatrist and a colonel in the U.S. Army, currently serving as a commander at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, Texas.
Commander (Retired Navy SEALS) Mark Waddell is a vice president and the Director of Special Projects for the Humanitarian International Services Group.

RETURNING TO THE KURDS

In this issue:
1. Returning to the Kurds (Medes)
2. 11/3 Interview with an Albanian Pastor
3. Intercession for Jerusalem

Returning to the Kurds (Medes)

Abby Abilness was interviewed and prayed for during 10/6 & 10/27 Joint Prayer Meetings Across America. Abby and a team of intercessors from Pennsylvania will return to serve the Kurds this week. Please read her letter to Iraq Prayer Surge ~ NOW! below and intercede our missionaries, the Kurds & the Turks.

Our Healing Tree International medical and healing team is returning to Iraq this week again by Kurdish Government invitation to help establish a dual diagnosis medical clinic to enhance healing in the region. After our first visit to begin training them in holistic healthcare, we have come to appreciate the unifying and peacemaking spirit of the Kurds. The timing of our return seems to be divine strategy that we would arrive the same time as the Turkey Government is preparing to invade Northern Iraq to stop the terrorists in that region. God seems to have assigned us as his holy peace bringing team to that region. We remember Psalms 33:16-19 “No king is saved by the size of his army, but the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.” We pray healing peace over the Kurdish people as they seek God’s protection and healing of their land. King Darius decreed the entire Medo-Persian Empire would worship the God of Daniel, once he discovered Daniel had not been eaten in the Lion’s Den. We pray that favor of the Lord on this mission that the Medes would know the God of Daniel is with them.

We bless you for your prayerful intercession,
Abby Abildness, Director Healing Tree International (Rev 22:2)

Intercession for President Bush & Israel

In this issue:
1. Intercession for President Bush
2. Building a Case Against Evil

Intercession for President Bush

Much of America’s attention is focus on the next man/woman who will be take office on January 20, 2009. We must intercede for the current nomination process and 2008 election. Nevertheless, let us not forget George W. Bush. 15 months remain in his presidency, and his destiny (and what God desires for America, Iraq, Israel and beyond through him) will be determined by our prevailing intercession. 1 Timothy 2:1-8 compels Christians to pray for him and all others in authority. President Bush will be a main focus during the 10.20.07 Joint Prayer Meeting Across America. For details, including the conference call number, please contact prayersurgenow@gmail.com.

Building a Case Against Evil
By Al McCarn of Alexandria, VA
October 14, 2007

Our Father has heard our prayers against all that is evil, particularly the planned division of the Land of Israel. These evils grieve His Heart. It is right that we should pray against these things even though it seems our prayers have no noticeable effect in diminishing the evil.

Our Father says there is much hope. He would have us take the FBI as an example. The Federal Bureau of Investigation works slowly, carefully, and meticulously to secure an indictment and a conviction of the wicked ones they pursue. They must be very careful in building the case so that it is not overturned in court and the wicked one walks free. This process often requires the FBI to watch and wait as the evil progresses even to the point of execution and beyond so that the fullness of the wickedness may be judged.

Our Father says we must not be discouraged, for these evil things must all come to pass so that He may judge great wickedness in high places. The cleansing process comes only through trial, but even in this Jesus is our example in this hour. He submitted to the indignity of persecution unto death, even saying at the time of His arrest, “Permit even this” (Luke 22:51), and, “How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?” (Matthew 26:54) He had to permit evil and wickedness to have free reign so that He could complete His work and bring all wickedness under judgment. In all that process was He tried and proven worthy and thus glorified in resurrection (John 13:31, Revelation 5:12).

Herein also is comfort for us, for the Lord reminds His Bride that we must follow the Bridegroom’s example in suffering. We must permit even the evil of the division of Israel so that the case may be brought to trial and conviction secured. Moreover, the Bride must be purified through trial so that we are made holy and worthy of our Lord. To be His true Bride and worthy subject, we must be made pure through the trials of this life. It is only through those trials that we are crucified with Christ so that He may live through us (Galatians 2:20). Then shall our glory be revealed.

That is why we must continue to pray and be not dismayed at the trials, evils, and wickedness. We should welcome and endure these trials in the hope not only of Adonai’s victory, but of our own perfection.

The Lord would have us know, however, that His people are not praying enough. There are not enough of His people praying, and not enough praying done by those who do pray. We must not only cry out to Him, but be silent before Him and soak in His Presence. If we heed Him not in this, the trials shall be even more severe than they need be, and many more shall perish than should be the case.

PLEASE PRAY TODAY!

This is an urgent prayer request for Muslims everywhere.

Tonight (10/9) is the “Night of Power” for the worshippers of Allah. Our prayers will move the heart of the Father to release His revelation of love & mercy. Please read the edited/condensed version of an E-mail sent by an intercessor in Maryland and INTERCEDE!

*****************

Islamic tradition has it that the “Night of Power” falls within this period. It is most widely considered it will be the night of the 27th day of Ramadan: Tuesday, October 9th (in 2007). Muslims believe that the angel Gabriel first spoke to Mohammed on that night and that every year on its anniversary the gates of heaven are opened wide, angels come to earth and Allah is especially merciful and attentive to prayers. Millions of Muslims around the world stay awake through the Night of Power, seeking his mercy.

So please pray through this week (Ramadan ends October 12th) and especially tonight - the Night of Power - that as Muslims seek God's mercy, the God of the Bible (a God they do not know) will indeed graciously and mercifully answer their prayers. “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation not called by my name, I said ‘Here am I, here am I.’” (Isaiah 65:1)

PLEASE PRAY FOR GOD TO:

1. Answer the prayers of all those Muslims earnestly seeking divine mercy and forgiveness of sins; may the one true God reveal himself - through dreams, visions, the Word and Christian witness - as their one and only Savior.

2. Profoundly bless those ministries that are reaching and seeking to reach Muslims around the world; may resistance be overcome, obstacles removed and finances flood in, so that the gospel of truth, grace and mercy may indeed flood the earth, advancing the knowledge and glory of the Lord. (Habakkuk 2:14)

Praying for the Muslims

What do Operation Iraqi Freedom, the 30 Days of Ramadan and Ahmadinejad visit to New York have in common? They are reminders for us to pray for the Muslims in the Middle East, America and around the world. Jesus has already paid the price for ALL. We must intercede for the 1.2 billion followers of Islam: For their salvation and discipleship in God’s Kingdom.

Let us commit our military to God and ask Him to open wide the 10/40 window for the Muslims in Iraq (and surrounding nations) that they may have greater access to the gospel. For encouraging news links, go to http://www.vetsforfreedom.com.

The 30 days of Ramadan ends on October 12th. As the Muslims are praying and fasting for “Allah’s favor”, we are called to pray that the One and Only God of the Universe would be revealed to them. For intercession for the Muslims during Ramadan, go to http://www.30-days.net.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly today. (Not Sunday, 9/23, as announced in our last entry.) Ancient Doors

It is time to unlock the ancient doors and release God’s redemptive purposes. They have been held at bay until this season of time….

I am ready to unleash My power and glory over the face of the earth and bring forth an outpouring of My Spirit on all flesh. You are entering into this season of time. You must walk in boldness and confidence. You must settle all issues of compromise and woundedness, for I will take you into deep waters. Your resolve must be unshakable. Everything that can be shaken will be, and what will be left standing is all that will bring glory and true honor to My name.

I am about to unleash upon the earth the cleansing, healing rain. It is the rain of My power, My Spirit, My glory. The eyes of many will be opened. You are to stand by the Lord of the harvest and call forth those who are ready and willing. Don’t shrink back or wait for another to lead. You must step out and take the lead. I will be faithful to give you the words to speak in that hour. You will declare and decree My word as it has been written and prophesied from ancient days of old. You are living in the day of its fulfillment. No eye has seen nor ear has heard neither has it entered into the heart of man what I have prepared and planned for you in this day.

Keep your focus and listen carefully for I will speak and reveal My purpose to My people as they ask, seek and knock.

Stir up the gifts that are in you. Allow My Spirit to quicken your spirit as deep calls to deep at the sound of the waterspouts (the rushing, flowing, plunging waters of life). This is a place of great stirrings, great movement, action and interaction. This is not the place of still quiet waters where I have led you to rest. This is the place of activation and great movement, you interacting with Me and as you move and respond with Me something powerful happens. The movement is generated into an expediential power – when unleashed nothing can touch. It is a finished work for eternity, sealed in the heavenlies forever.

“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord of hosts.” Zech. 4:6

It is not your might and power, but My Spirit working through you that releases the flow and brings it to the earth in accordance with heaven.

You were made for this. My Church was designed to show forth My great power and glory as the angels look on in awe. You do what they can not do. You receive the gift of redemption and the power to overcome sin and evil. The angels look on in wonder and desire to join you in the work you engage in. It is time for My Church to awaken and see her own potential. She has great authority within her reach and at her disposal. She is to take this authority as capitol and use it to accomplish My purposes on the earth - in the nations.

All the scenarios of faith in My word are yours for the asking. Remember I am the Vine, you are the branches. Abide in Me and I will sustain you in all the places I call you to go. I am your strength and your help. Take courage and walk in faith by My Spirit’s direction.

Iranian President Ahmadinejad & Fulton Street Revival

1 Timothy 2:1-8 encourages us to pray for men everywhere, including those in authority, and to pray with pure hearts, without condemning others and with faith . Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be in New York City tomorrow and Monday to address the United Nations and Columbia University. This man and his nation & the Middle East need our prayers TODAY.

Read about his actions in Iran & visit to NYC:

Could it be that the Lord is bring him to New York? He will be speaking at the UN during the 150th Anniversary Celebration of Fulton Street Revival in Lower Manhattan. This revival (also called the Laymen's Prayer Revival) began on September 23, 1857 with 6 men praying at in Wall Street area just a few blocks from 9/11 Ground Zero. Within a few months 50,000 New Yorkers began to repent and intercede for the nation. Within 18 months, 1 million new believers were added to God's Kingdom all over the nation. Many revival experts have called this move of God as the greatest revival in American history.

Columbia University is a key institution in America. This is where John Dewey taught the students of Teachers College approximately 100 years ago, and his work opened the flood gates to secular humanism to enter our nation's public school system. The affects of his teachings has brought devastating consequences to America. Secular humanism (the belief that man is "god") is the dominant philosophy throughout our schools (K-12 & colleges) as well as our government, media, business world, and religions, including that many use the Bible.

(Read the words of secular humanists)

I believe the Lord is getting our attention out attention today: Look at what came out of NYC? The Great Revival 150 years ago and great evil 100 years ago. Besides praying for President Ahmadinejad (who was not allowed to pay tribute at NYC Gound Zero), let's us ask God to awaken the hearts of men, women and children all across America and to defeat secular humanism in America .

"Lord, we ask that you would bring 10 million souls to Your Kingdom in America by the end of 2008! Lord, we ask for a mighty move of God to increase in Israel, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and ALL of Middle East! Even as you opened the eyes of Saul to become Paul, would you give open the eyes of those who are against You & Your Church so that they may enter into loving relationship with Jesus?"

OPPORTUNITIES TO INTERCEDE

In this today's issue:

1. Ramadan: Our Opportunity to Intercede
2. A Prophetic Perspective on Iraq
3. 09.22.07 Joint Prayer Meeting Across America

Ramadan: Our Opportuntiy to Intercede

God loves the 1.2 billion Muslims throughout the world. His Only Begotten Son shed His precious blood everyone, including those who practice the religion of Islam. He calls us to lovingly pray for the Muslims that they may find THE WAY, THE TRUTH & THE LIFE in Jesus. During this month of Ramadan, September 13th - October 12th, let us intercede for the Muslims here and abroad.

Ramadan is an Islamic religious observance during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, when the Quran was "revealed." The Muslims need the loving truth of God and His Word to set them free. Operation Iraqi Freedom hinges upon God's revelation of His eternal power and grace for the Iraqi people. The security of the Middle East, including Israel, require Iran and Syria to come under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Revival in America is connected to the transformation (that has already begun!) in the Muslim world. May the Spirit of the Living God fall upon Muslims everywhere!

A Prophetic Perspective on Iraq
Spoken by J.V., New York, NY
Sunday, August 5, 2007 (condensed)

Do you think that the world’s armies report only to their chain of command? No! They are sometimes hijacked by principalities and powers out to wreak havoc on earth and sweep people up into the mouth of hell.

And I am the Lord of Hosts—the Lord of armies—the armies of heaven and also those of earth, whom I conscript from time to time to work my own will. I whistled for the armies of Assyria and Babylon to come down on the mountains of Israel to execute justice—to sweep away what had polluted even my own house, says the Lord.

Do I not have the right, as Lord of Hosts, to call for armies, and to send them out as it pleases me? I take what belongs to me, while I induce men to think that it is for other reasons. I do as I will in the court of heaven and on the battlefields of the earth. I am the Lord of Hosts.

Pray to me, says the Lord of Hosts that the army of this nation prevails. I have whistled for it and sent it out—not for your national interests and calculated good, but for the good of people you did not care about—people who have exacted your money, people who trouble you.

I have taken your sons, your materiel and your wealth, and I have spent it on the souls of those for whom you did not care—for I care for them. Note how I have not exacted from you the measure of pain and cost that is meet, for I have poured into your bag more than I have taken out. I have not required ten thousands of your sons, but I have made your wound light. Have you not prospered while I have borrowed your army and taken your means? I have given you more in return than you have spent!

Pray—let your heart be stirred for these Arab and Muslim souls. They are mine, says the Lord. I will not suffer that they be dragged into hell in their great numbers. I will pluck burning brands out of this fiery sand—sons and daughters worthy of my Name, for I will make them worthy. I will gather, as a hen does her chicks, those whose names are Mohammed and Amir, and they will rejoice under my wings. They will stand with my people Israel and with you, and revel in the richness of the oil of my gladness, says the Lord—which exceeds the wealth of all the oil under their sands—oil that has enriched them, and impoverished them, in this world.

Be converted to be friends of these whom I save, where I have sent your armies. I have educated many among your armies, and their hearts will be turned. There are heroes and champions among your soldiers, who have much to teach you. I will make them a blessing in your midst. And some of them will return there—not with a uniform and a gun, but with a Bible, with hands ready for hard work, and with hearts that are united with the people they have defended with their lives and their guns.

Glory to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel—and of Ishmael. Glory to Him in the faces of their children and their grandchildren and their great-grandchildren. Lets those nations—and the sands of the desert—rise up an offering to Him and glorify Him!

Sabbath and Our National Destiny
A word submitted through Al McCarn of Alexandria, VA
September 8, 2007

Adonai Elohim has called the United States of America to a mighty redemptive purpose. We have aspired to spread the blessings of liberty and democracy in keeping with the vision of our nation’s founders, but in the past century we have come short in nearly every endeavor. We have experienced the frustration of compromise and defeat in World War I, Korea, Vietnam, our interventions in Latin America, in the First Gulf War, and now in Iraq and Afghanistan. Perhaps there is an underlying root cause that has kept us from completing the works our God calls us to do as a people and as a nation. As an answer, the Lord provides these examples:
He called Moses to free His people from Egypt, but came near to killing him because he had not obeyed the Lord by circumcising his son (Exodus 4:24-26)
He called Joshua to lead the people to victory in Canaan, but would not let the people advance beyond Jordan until they had obeyed Him regarding circumcision (Joshua 5:2-9)
He called Ezra to lead the people back to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple, but would not let them continue the work until they had turned from the sins of Solomon (I Kings 11:1-13) and put away the foreign wives who had opened them to the corrupting influence of their pagan practices (Ezra 9:1-4, 10:9-12)
He called Nehemiah to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem so that the city could be once again the spiritual, governmental, economic, and social center of His people, but would not let them finish the work until they obeyed Him regarding Sabbath (Nehemiah 13:15-22)

In each of these examples, the choice Adonai gave to His people was either to obey, or turn back and leave God to complete His work through someone else.
We are in the same place. We cannot complete the journey and finish the task because we remain locked in the sins of our fathers. We have not yet answered the call of the Almighty to come out of the deceptions of Babylon (Revelation 18:1-5). If we would advance beyond the half-measures and compromises of our past and fulfill our destiny, then we must humble ourselves before our God and obey His commandments. The first step He asks of us is to keep all ten of His commandments. We do well in keeping nine of them, but we fail in this one:
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. (Exodus 20:8)
Adonai Elohim says to us:
“If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of the LORD honorable, and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then you shall delight yourself in the LORD; and I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the LORD has spoken.” (Isaiah 58:13-14)
This is the beginning of obedience to the God Who made us. He calls with breaking heart to His people to ask Him what it means to keep Sabbath, and then to obey Him when He answers. It is only in this way, as we lay down our own priorities and that way which seems right to us in our own eyes, that He will show us His way, which is the only way to complete victory. Unless and until we begin to obey Him in this, our national destiny will remain unfulfilled, and He will complete His redemptive work through someone else.

Praying 1 Timothy 2:8

Lord on this solemn day and everyday,
we choose to pray with clean hearts,
without hatred and bitterness,
believing You will hear us as we continue to
intercede for the leaders of both America and Iraq,
our troops and the Iraqi people
who are in desperate need of your grace and mercy today.

BE AN INTERCESSOR TODAY!

Next week, as we remember the tragic events of 9/11, General Petraeus scheduled is to report to the United States Congress and provide his assessment of the war in Iraq on September 11th & 12th. The Lord is asking us TODAY to be His intercessors for America (Ezekiel 22:20). He is inviting us to love our enemies and be His instruments of reconciliation (Matthew 5:43-48 & 2 Corinthians 5:16-21). In Luke 23:34, Jesus nailed to the cross prayed, "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they do." Stephen's last words in Acts 8:60 echoed the words of Jesus, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin."

Would you intercede for ALL people of Iraq TODAY?
Would you ask God to awaken the Church of America TODAY?
Would you be on you knees for President Bush and the Congress TODAY?
Would you ask God to guide General Petraeus and our military into HIS victory TODAY?
Would you pray on behalf of Prime Minister al-Maliki and the Government of Iraq TODAY?

Joint Prayer Meeting Across America will continue tomorrow, 9/8 and next Saturday, 9/15. For conference call number and more details please E-mail prayersurgenow@gmail.com .

Psalm 60
By W.B., Intercessor from Pennsylvania

What particularly struck me with this prayer of David was how he starts. "You have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry.., you have made your people see hard things," etc. It still amazes me how guys running around in sweat suits in Iraq are causing so many problems for the greatest war machine in history. I believe it's simple---- "O God, you have rejected us!" Yet when David cries, "Oh, restore us.... That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer us," God responds "in his holiness." His response reminds David just Whose army this really is, and The Blessed Trinity's victory over the enemies. David sums up his prayer, "With God we shall do valiantly...." Then he makes this declaration: He will tread down our foes."

Prayer: Father, in Jesus' Name, there is just no success without You. Forgive us all, our political leaders, our church leaders, of the arrogance of self reliance, the perversion perpetrated in the 1960s, "You can do anything if you put your mind to it." Father, we confess that we can do nothing, no matter what we "put...to it!" Speak to us, Your Church, our nations in Your Holiness. Do not let us be deceived by any earthly power. "You have set up a banner (Jesus Christ) for those who fear you, that they may flee to it (Him) from the bow." May our President, our military, and Your Church "flee to" and embrace Your "Banner." Amen.

08.18.07 JOINT PRAYER MEETING ACROSS AMERICA

In this week’s issue:

1. 08.18.07 JOINT PRAYER MEETING ACROSS AMERICA
2. OPERATION PRAYER SURGE PRAYER POINTS AUGUST 2007
3. A SOLDIER WHO APPRECIATES YOUR PRAYER
4. “THE NEED FOR PRAYER”

08.18.07 JOINT PRAYER MEETING ACROSS AMERICA

You are invited to a “joint” prayer meeting on Saturday, August 18th for the purposes of:
- UNITY in the Body of Christ
- REPENTANCE on behalf of the sins of the Church & our nation
- INTERCESSION for Iraq & the Middle East

Prior to September 15th, General David H. Petraeus will testify before the Congress on the progress of the "troop surge" in Baghdad, Iraq. This crucial assessment will most likely determine the decision of President Bush and Congress regarding “Operation Iraqi Freedom.” Our military's success (or lack there of) will have far reaching consequences around the world.

The greatest impact will be among Iraqis and other Muslims in having access to the Word of God, as well as a Christian witness. Will the Middle East experience a great revival and salvation among the millions of Muslims? Or will God once again raise up the kingdoms of "Babylon," "Persia," and "Assyria" and use them as God's instruments of judgment upon His people to expose their prideful, unrepentant and disobedient hearts. Our intercession will make the difference. Let us choose HUMILITY over HUMILIATION!

We are asking that praying Christians everywhere gather to pray on Saturday, August 18th, in their hometowns (or while vacationing). Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions on how to put prayer meetings together in churches and homes. Naturally if the schedule below does not work please use your own, but pray.

8:00-10:00AM Eastern Time
7:00-9:00AM Central Time
6:00-8:00AM Mountain Time
5:00-7:00AM Pacific Time
We will be connected through a conference call for the first 15 minutes (8:00-8:15 Eastern) for a brief-time of teaching and instructions which will help provide a clearer focus for the prayer meetings.

Let us link our hearts as one asking our heavenly Father to have mercy and sweep across the Middle East with His Spirit. If you desire to participate in the 08.18.07 JOINT PRAYER MEETING ACROSS AMERICA, please contact prayersurgenow@gmail.com for more details including the conference call number and code.

OPERATION PRAYER SURGE PRAYER POINTS AUGUST 2007

One month ago, we provided several detailed prayer points for Iraq and the Middle East. Please request your copy of this month's prayer points and find out how prayers have been answered and where we need to now target our prayers. As more encouraging news emerges from the Middle East, let us KEEP ON ASKING, KEEP ON SEEKING, and KEEP ON KNOCKING.

A SOLDIER WHO APPRECIATES YOUR PRAYER

Below are the words of gratitude from Pete Hegseth, Executive Director, Vets for Freedom.

I believe in the power of prayer, and as a soldier, I felt it first hand. When I was in Iraq, my family and friends back home held me up in prayer, and it gave me an assurance and sense of calm that I otherwise would not have had. This is what makes the Iraq Prayer Surge so important. Your prayers—for our troops AND their mission—are a powerful component of bringing a lasting peace to Iraq. Thank you for your prayers. They mean a great deal to soldiers, their families, and the people of Iraq. God bless you.

Please learn more about Pete Hegseth and Vets for Freedom by going to www.vetsforfreedom.com.

“THE NEED FOR PRAYER”

The need for prayer…… once realized……is overpowering.
It’s like a soldier entering a mission for the first time that might be his last.
He becomes aware of his needs……especially the need to get a grip on his fears.
Some people of our country are becoming aware of our need for God’s help……His divine intervention.
They know that without His action……
what Americans have been familiar with over the past decades will be gone.
The strength of our military nor the great and high tech weaponry nor the great ingenuity and
courage of the warrior will be sufficient.
Just as General George C. Marshall…… a man who fought in both World Wars……
said in a speech to a college student body after World War II.

“The soldier’s heart, the soldier’s spirit, the soldier’s soul are everything. Unless the soldier’s soul sustains him, he cannot be relied on and will fail himself, his commander, and his country in the end.”
George C. Marshall, General of the Army

Just as it is with the heart……the spirit……the soul……
of the soldier – so it goes with the nation.
Prayer……humble……fervent……committed……selfless……
prevailing……persistent is what our nation needs.

In Addition To….Repentance….

HUGE GAINS IN IRAQ!

There has been significant improvements in Iraq. Our prayer efforts must increase during these critical days of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Please read the following articles and be encouraged as you intercede!

1. WHAT BUSH CRITICS SAW IN IRAQ
2. WHY ARE SOME OUR LEADERS AGAINST SUCCESS IN IRAQ?
3. VICTORY BEGINS WITH HUMILITY: A LESSON IN HISTORY

WHAT BUSH CRITICS SAW IN IRAQ

“VIEWED from Iraq, where we just spent eight days meeting with American and Iraqi military and civilian personnel, the political debate in Washington is surreal. The Bush administration has over four years lost essentially all credibility. Yet now the administration’s critics, in part as a result, seem unaware of the significant changes taking place.”

Please read the rest of this honest assessment of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the New York Times article below:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/30/opinion/30pollack.html

WHY ARE SOME OUR LEADERS AGAINST SUCCESS IN IRAQ?

Before you read this alarming article below, please ask Jesus for His humble heart of intercession and meditate upon 1 Timothy 2:1-8. Let us pray for godly wisdom for our leaders, and their for salvation, “lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” Please read http://www.nysun.com/article/59744

VICTORY BEGINS WITH HUMILTY: A LESSON IN HISTORY

During the most difficult time in our nation’s history, the president called for America to humility. Here is an excerpt of this historic letter from the heart of our humble president:

"We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us! It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness."

President Abraham Lincoln understood the importance of prayer and repentance. Many Americans responded and sought the Lord in desperation. The Lord heard, forgave and ended slavery and preserved the Union. For the comlete text of this call to national repentance, please go to

Praying with the heart of 2 Chronicles 7:14 is even more critical today than in 1863. Would you join us in humility and pray:

Lord, we are your people who are called by your name. We humble ourselves this day, pray and seek Your face, repent of our sins and for the sins our nation.
Would you graciously hear from heaven, forgive our sins and bring Your healing to the Church and salvation to the lost and dying world? We humbly ask You to bring revival in America & the Middle East. In the Name of Our Humble Savior we pray,
AMEN

Kairos Moment in History!

In this week’s newsletter:

Iraq: A Kairos Moment in History
Abby Abildness, Director of Healing Tree International

Having recently returned from Northern Kurdish Iraq on a medical training mission on crisis response, I have gained perspective on the strategic moment in history the United States is facing in that region. Iraqi Kurdish government physicians told us they rejoice at their newfound freedoms since the fall of the Saddam regime, and the United Nations establishment of the City of Refuge and Healing in that region. Their Kurdish Globe reports that Duhok is proud to be a business gateway of massive rebuilding housing and business projects. Their people are impressed as they watch President Bush’s resolve to continue the fight no matter the opposition. Iraqi’s are impacted by the integrity of American values so much that they welcome us to come into their land to live and teach them. They want to learn how to rule with justice, and how to heal with medical and spiritual wisdom. They want to learn our faith as they see trustworthiness they don’t see in their own people. They say it would be good for the United States and for them if we remain in their land for security and rebuilding. Pray the truth of this good comes out in the media and that we see this positive diplomacy for the victory of our government purposes and sacrifices of our soldiers. Intercession for God’s purposes to be fulfilled is critical since rebuilding is determined not by might, nor power, but by His Spirit (Zechariah 4:6). I see the potential fulfillment of Isaiah 61:4 for Iraq in rebuilding the ancient ruins, and raising up the former desolations, repairing the ruined cities, the devastations of many generation and (verse 7) instead of shame there shall be a double portion, and instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot and have everlasting joy.

Our nation is founded on the faith of our fathers, and has been called to be a nation to show the Father God’s heart to protect and care for other nations in need. This battle in Iraq is a KAIROS moment in history as the eyes of the world are watching and being impacted by the unveiling of justice and truth to the Middle Eastern people. It is no wonder the media battle rages with such high stakes. Prayer Surge is critical in releasing the power of the Spirit of God to bring victory in that region. Just as Northern Iraq is becoming a gateway to rebuilding business and housing, to bring healing to the land of Iraq, it will also be a gateway to healing for America and the world. As other nations are watching, we are providing a powerful witness to the faith of our nation’s founding fathers. This war is a sacred task. If we can keep the focus as One Nation Under God on healing their land we will find it will bring healing to our land. America has a Father’s heart to bring justice and healing to nations. If we trust in God for success, we would come out of there having done a great thing for the world.

Iraq Prayer Surge ~ NOW!
Hosted by MEN for NATIONS, Washington, DC

The Mission

1. 2 Chronicles 7:14 To remind Biblical Christians across America to approach God in unity, humility and repentance in order to receive His listening ears, forgiveness and healing. He is already answering our prayers in Northern Iraq and in and through our troops who consider themselves as Christ’s Ambassadors in Iraq.

2. Hebrews 4:14-16 To promote deep intercession within the Body of Christ across America for “Operation Iraqi Freedom” that will result in God's victory and security in Iraq well beyond September 15th. We are in great desperate need of His mercy and grace in Baghdad, Jerusalem and Washington, DC.

3. 1 Timothy 2:1-8 To pray daily for God's protection and blessings upon our troops and the Iraqi people for the purpose of revival in both America & Iraq. We must also pray for President Bush, the US Congress, our military leadership, and the families of our troops who are grieving and waiting as well as God’s salvation among the Iraqis.
